Dr Playfair’s orthodontic philosophy focuses on a holistic, facial approach. This approach treats a patient’s teeth and bite in conjunction with their facial appearance, airways and jaw joints. Dr Playfair is an advocate of early treatment when required to minimise extractions and level of future treatment.
Dr Playfair understands that every patient has different clinical requirements, so he will work with each patient to create a unique treatment plan that is right for their individual needs.
Dr Nicholas Playfair

Dr Nicholas Playfair is a Board-Certified Specialist Orthodontist. As well as being a registered Specialist Orthodontist in Australia, Dr Playfair has also successfully completed both part 1 and 2 of the American and the Canadian Orthodontic Board examinations. This enables Dr Playfair to register as a Specialist Orthodontist in both the USA and Canada. Dr Playfair’s ongoing commitment to excellence enables his patients to feel at ease that they are receiving the very best in orthodontic care.
Dr Playfair grew up in Sydney and graduated as a Dental Surgeon in 2002. He worked as a Dental Surgeon for over 9 years before undertaking a 3-year Full-Time Specialist Master’s Degree in Orthodontics. During this period Dr Playfair completed his thesis in Digital Orthodontics which he presented in the USA, Japan and Canada.
He then went on to present his treated cases to independent American Orthodontic Board-Certified examiners before he was awarded his Fellowship in Orthodontics by the Royal College. Dr Playfair subsequently spent a further 5 years working as a Specialist Orthodontist in Sydney and the NSW Coast before settling in the Macarthur region.

Dr Playfair is a member of the Australian Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists and The Royal College of Orthodontists of Canada. He regularly attends Orthodontic Congresses both in Australia and overseas. Dr Playfair enjoys giving back to the Dental Profession and regularly assists in reviewing articles for the Australian Orthodontic Journal.
Outside of his professional life Dr Playfair and his wife, Alyssa, enjoy spending time with their family and friends and volunteer at their church. They enjoy going to the gym and jogging.
